Title: Glad We're Not Family
Author: Me. Emma.
Part: Standalone
Rating: 12
Pairing: PoynterJones
Genre: Erm, fluff, I guess
Summary: Dougie's annoyed Danny. How will Danny react? Not how Dougie's expecting, that's for sure.
A/N: My first ever Pones fic! Well, it's a ficlet more than anything else. It's only short. Dedicated to
star55 because she prompted me with "Family". If anyone else wants to prompt me, the post is here.
Disclaimer: Don't own 'em and this likely never happened.
Dougie raced through the house, giggling madly. Hot on his heels was Danny, who was not giggling madly. In fact, Danny was quite angry and was shouting as he ran. He was also dripping wet and wearing only a towel slung low on his waist. As he ran through the living room, Dougie tripped on a stray shoe that was in the middle of the floor. He fell, landing on the sofa and giving Danny the opportunity to catch up. Hovering over the bassist, droplets of water falling softly onto Dougie's skin, Danny reached out to pin the smaller male to the sofa.
"Dan, come on! I only did it once!" Dougie pleaded, his arms thrust out in front of him, hands pressing against the guitarist's chest to keep him at bay. He was still giggling, although he was doing his best to hide it.
"Once was enough Doug! The water was bloody freezing!" Danny retorted, pushing a little bit harder against Dougie's shoulders.
"Well I didn't know it would happen, did I?" Dougie replied, pushing back against the brunette's chest again.
"Of course it would happen! It always happens!" Danny yelled, not thinking about how close he was to Dougie. The bassist winced. Danny's voice was loud enough as it is, without him shouting.
"It hasn't harmed you Danny," Dougie whined, trying once again to push Danny's arms off him so that he could sit up. "Did you never do it to Vicky when you were younger?"
"No, never!" Danny replied firmly, shaking his head so that more drops of water cascaded down onto the bassist's face. "She's my sister and she'd have killed me if I'd done that to her."
"She wouldn't have killed you, don't exaggerate! You don't kill members of your family for something like that," Dougie replied stubbornly. He didn't see the harm in what he'd done. He really hadn't known that the shower would run freezing cold if he flushed the toilet while Danny was in there, it had never happened when he'd done it at home so it hadn't occurred to him to wait for Danny to finish in the shower before he flushed.
"You don't know that. We're like family but I could kill you right now for doing it just then. It gave me the bloody shock of my life!" Danny exclaimed.
"You love me too much to kill me," Dougie replied confidently, gazing up at the brunette still hovering above him, water still glistening on his freckled skin. The bassist had eventually stopped struggling against Danny's grip and now seemed quite content to lie under the almost naked guitarist.
Danny paused, trying to compose himself before he answered, trying to stop the smile that he knew was going to appear any minute. He opened his mouth to speak.
"Your towel's open, by the way." Dougie spoke softly, his eyes never leaving Danny's face and his voice taking the brunette by surprise.
That was it for Danny. He couldn't feign anger any longer. He burst out laughing, removing his hands from Dougie's shoulders and instead placing them on the bassist's cheeks, pulling the younger male closer. "It's a bloody good job we're not actually family isn't it?" he asked, still laughing.
"Why?" Dougie's question was answered by Danny pressing his lips against the blonde's in a mind melting kiss. After he recovered from the initial surprise, Dougie ran his hands up Danny's arms, snaking his own arms around the brunette's neck. "Oh," he breathed, gazing into Danny's eyes as they broke apart, a smile playing on his lips. He'd often wondered what it would be like to have a brother, but suddenly, he was glad they weren't actually family.
